the tech giants HP resolved the lawsuit which was going on between former CEO Mark Hurd and company board of directors. Hewlett-Packard said in a press release that they have resolved their lawsuit against the company’s expelled CEO Mark Hurd who according to the company violated his separation contract with the company and went to a rival company Oracle to take a job as the Co-president.
According to the settlement which has materialized, the former CEO Mark Hurd has agreed to waive off his rights to HP stocks which were atleast worth of $15.3 Million. These stocks were part of a performance reward which he was bound to get if he would not have violated the separation agreement. But on the other hand, the former CEO Hurd will get to keep almost $12.2 Million in the form of cash which he has received as severance.
Former CEO, Mark Hurd resigned from the company amidst sex-related scandal in which he was accused of sexual harassment and abusing the power of CEO. The sexual harassment charges were dropped but violation of CEO Powers was charged against him.
Just after his accusation, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison blasted on Hewlett Packard for ousting and putting charges against Hurd. Hurd was later on hired as the Oracle’s Co-president and was very swift and agile in taking the new charge. He appeared on a conference call with Oracle analysts and discussed about the upcoming OpenWorld Developers Conference.
HP’s settlement with Mark Hurd has let both the sides walk away from a very controversial confrontation. Although, Hurd can afford to leave and shed of some millions on the table because his new company Oracle welcomed its new president with hefty annual salary which is just shy of almost $1 Million and the new co-president can also earn a bonus of almost upto $ 10 Million this year.
A very striking fact is that according to an estimate by ComScore both the companies HP and Oracle shares almost 140,000 customers. So, this move by Mark Hurd can be quite beneficial for Oracle as far as marketing strategy and policies are considered.
