Technology access Bill for Disabled People Signed By President Obama

Deaf and blind people will now be able to use more readily and easily the internet, Smartphones and all the other popular technologies out there in the world due to a Bill signed on Friday.  The Bill was signed by President Barrack Obama in the East Room of the White House where he was encouraged and flanked on the stage the famous singer Stevie Wonder and lawmakers. President Obama depicted this specific bill signing event as another milestone in undertaking equal rights, equal access and opportunities for all the Americans, no matter they belong to whichever walk of life and whether they are disabled or normal.

President Obama reminded the 20th Anniversary of Americans with Disabilities Act prohibiting place of work and jobs inequity against educated yet disabled people and calling the requirement of more improved access for the disabled people for the transportation and public places. According to President Obama, this new regulation for disabled people will make it pretty convenient for people who are blind or deaf or visually impaired to do a lot what many normal people take for granted. These people will now be able to navigate a DVD menu or can send email using their Smartphones. This law as said by President in his formal address will set new standards so that all the Americans who are disabled to take benefit of the technology as the economy of the country depends upon this inclusion of the technology. As in today’s world every worker no matter he/she belongs to whatever profession needs to be more conversant with all of these tech tools and gadgets, because in this way people can do their jobs in a more better and professional way.

In one corner of the White House East Room a sign language interpreted the address of President as he spoke to the deaf people as well. Under this particular law, the quality of life of almost 25 Million people who are visually impaired or blind will improve. According to the advocacy group, the estimated 36 Million people who are either deaf or hard of hearing will also get benefited from this law.

This particular law sets Federal Guidelines that demand the Telecomm industry to follow certain measure which include:

Make internet access easier by making the UI of the Smartphones more graphical
Provide audible description of the events on TV so blind people can take advantage of this feature.
Add captions to all the online programs of TV so deaf can be aided.
Paul Schroeder who is a Vice President at American foundation for the Blind people said after the ceremony that disabled people have to spend so much for all the accessories and aiding software programs, but with this law things are gonna change.
